Oktoberfest

Blondie and I headed off to one of the piers on the Hudson yesterday for Oktoberfest. What a blast. You've got some fabulous German beers, the Hudson river and NYC skyline for your view, and a 3 minute walk back to your apartment afterwards - does it get any better than this???

Leiderhosen!

Beer tent, and that sucky weather rolling in

I run so that I can drink beer

Represent! Duff beer and a brat! That's my man!

I hate garbage too... but this is ridiculous

Saturday afternoon, Blondie happened to look out our patio door and saw this HUGE billow of black smoke drifting from the Hudson across the city. We ran upstairs to the roof, and watched one of the piers burn to the ground. It was the garbage pier - where they store garbage trucks, etc.

Nobody was hurt, thankfully. And the wind from Earl was pushing everything northeast - Blondie and I were southwest from the fire, so we got lucky.

Burn baby burn, garbage inferno

Fire boats to the rescue!

Brazilian Fest

It would've been great if someone would've burned all the vuvuezala's (or however you spell those annoying horns) prior to the festival starting. But it was nice getting out of the house and the weather was perfect for a festival.

Everyone loves Brazil...

Walking the High Line

The champagne of parks???

A beautiful day after Earl missed NYC. Windy but sunny and warm. Blondie and I decided a 2 mile walk down to High Line Park (an elevated rail line turned into a park by the city) was in order.

The park itself

You really can see the Empire State Building from everywhere in NYC
