Rockettes!

Blondie and I took off to Radio City Music Hall today to catch a showing of the Christmas Spectacular, or as I like to call it "Rockettes". It was a really good time - we had a lot of fun, and they even had a 3D experience to it. How awesome is that???

On the walk over, NYC is putting on her fancy dress for the holidays

And just because - NBC's SNF decorations. Hello Mr Rodgers!

Jets v Bills

J! E! T! S! JETS JETS JETS!!! Wooooo hooooooo - they won one! Perfect weather for tailgating and football watching - couldn't have asked for anything better.

Let's get this party started!

My hat didn't fit my head correctly

NYC in the background

This gives me vertigo, too many beers and I get fancy with the angles

I'm sure the Jets are about to do something pretty crappy here

The T-Day Parade

Not many photos here, because as soon as you got under the balloon, all picture taking / cell phone talking / etc was halted. Immediately.

Here is what we've got though....

Pikachu, he's our man! Getting ready to walk the loveable 'thing'

What *exactly* is Spiderman doing to that ball? Possibly the best balloon pose ever???

Ice Skating in Bryant Park

I've had a crush on Bryant Park since I first saw Project Runway - it was the star of the show (well, I had a bigger crush on Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, but Bryant Park was a close 3rd). I take every opportunity I can to walk by Bryant Park, and sometimes will take the wrong train home just so I can get out at Bryant Park and make my way through the city that way. I'm lame.

After many whiskeys on T-Day Eve, Blondie and I decided the best way to spend our time was ice skating - we were both uber wobbly, but still had a blast.

I'm not letting go of this wall

Blondie is a much better skater than me

Back 12 hours from Barbados, and we had a massive snowstorm

Hanging out in Brooklyn as we tried to decide where to live

Barbados

Again, not a NYC picture post. But it's Barbados. It was GORGEOUS there. Absolutely stunning. And it was a vacation that was desperately needed - we were both suffering terrible burn-out, and I don't know what kind of head state we'd be in if we hadn't taken this trip.

Someone needed a beer... how come all Carribean beer tastes like Heineken to me?

This shot makes my heart ache. Vacation RULES

Balloon Training

Part of the requirements for being a balloon handler is taking balloon training at Meadowlands Stadium - or so we thought. It wasn't actually required, but it was a beautiful day and getting out of the city (if only for a morning) was really nice. We didn't walk Clifford, we had a cop balloon instead. But Clifford was fun to see in action.

Fully inflated and ready to fly

Holy crap, these balloons are big! Here we go...

Clifford flies! And he has a cute butt too

The random pictures, Sept edition

It's been forever since I've posted on this blog, and going through old pictures, I realize how much I've missed putting up. These are the randoms, some of my favorites.

Riverside Park, looking back towards the city

Empire State Building, patriotic colors were for 9/11

Meeting Veanne Cox at our local bar!

Not about NYC

We took a trip back to San Francisco in Sept to see 2 of our great friends get married. It was Blondie's first trip back, my 5th trip back - and we had a blast. Except for the part about human poop on the steps into the subway - we could've done without that.

We took a train out to our old hood for beer and wings - the train doors got stuck so we went 2 stops further than we wanted. But walking back took us through Kezar Stadium - which was always a favorite of ours.

Typical SF weather, Kezar Stadium

Yours Truly and El Blonde-o, Presidio Golf Course

Bierhaus

I'm not much of a Groupon fan, but jumped on one back in August with a bunch of coworkers. $29 all you can eat brats and pretzels, plus 1 liter of beer. Which we supplemented with 2 more liters of beer each.

Yay for beer!

The beer is the size of my head, and I have a big head

Hurricane Irene

What better way to ring in a hurricane than with margaritas and scotch! I was very nervous when Hurricane Irene blew threw town, but it turned out to be a false alarm on my part - we were lucky. I know other cities were devastated, but Manhattan was spared the worst.

Scotch, scotch, scotch. Down my throat

How 'bout a marg to go with your hurricane?

The city that never sleeps, slept

I've never seen Times Square so people-less in my life - the day after

Mets v Brewers

Go Brewers!!!! A trip out to Queens to watch Blondie's hometown team take on our favorite NYC baseball team. We were rooting hard for the Brewers - and they won. Which is quite the shock... Because we never root for the winning teams.

Welcome to CitiField!

The Big Apple shows up when the Mets score (so this happens rarely)

We had awesome seats

Central Park

Blondie and I took a trip up to Central Park a few weekends ago to picnic and relax. We crashed out in some shade, and people watched around the lake for a bit, before heading into the park to explore further. Central Park is so big that even though we've been up there like 10 times, we've seen only a tiny bit of what it has to offer.

Enjoying the scenery, beautiful day to be out and about in NYC

Blondie, enjoying his picnic

We hit up 2 spots I've been wanting to see - the boat pond and the Alice In Wonderland statue. The boat pond you will probably recognize from a billion movies set in NYC - I think it even makes an appearance in When Harry Met Sally when they are speed walking in the park.

Striking a pose, boat pond!

Close up of the boats

And the Alice in Wonderland statue is just something I had read about and wanted to see.

The statue

Manhattanhenge

We caught the tail end of about 3 days where the sun setting tracks perfectly down the streets of Manhattan. It's very very cool to see, but it does kill your eyes if you don't have your sunglasses.

In April (I think it's April), it's the opposite and the sun rising comes straight down the streets.

Quite the catch-up coming

First on tap, a trip to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert on Broadway! Blondie had gone to The Land of Cheese for a family camping trip, and I decided that I needed to get some drag queens and some music and some Broadway into my day - and what better way to do that than by combining all 3 into what felt like the biggest party on Broadway!

1 day after I saw this play, it won Best Costume Design at the 2011 Tony Awards.

I seriously want to make out with this play.

Memorial Day Weekend

What didn't we do? That's an easier question to answer. We must've walked 5 miles yesterday, all over the city, just having fun hanging out with each other. And sweating. Sweating was a major part of what we did yesterday. It was H.O.T. in N.Y.C.

How, oh how, does one walk in these? I have some pretty ridiculous heels, but nothing compared to this - Museum of Sex

Finally used our Groupon and toured the Museum of Sex
