Wherever you go, there you are

Blondie and I made big plans yesterday - we had worked out our whole day. Around noontime we headed out to put our plans in motion - headed towards the subway - and got *completely* blind-sided. By the best thing ever.

A 15 BLOCK FOOD FESTIVAL ONLY 2 AVENUES FROM OUR HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!

OMG. Heaven. Heaven everywhere you looked. We took 1 look at each other, and in unison said "Screw Washington Square Park!" (which was part of our original plan).

We dived right in, and had a blast! Blondie got a hat to protect his burnt head from more sun (oh yes, it was beautiful yesterday also!), and we both got snazzy new Hells Kitchen 10036 (represent!) t-shirts.

The food festival was officially named "9th Avenue International Food Festival" and it's exactly what it sounds like. Almost every restaurant from 42nd to 57th on 9th Ave set up booths in front of their shops, and were serving food and booze.

It was SO cheap. I've never been to a cheaper food festival in my life. I'm dead serious. Beers (I'm talking Stella and Guiness) - $3. Margaritas - $3. Sangria - $3. Chocolate covered strawberries - $4. Funnel Cake - $4. HUGE ASS SAUSAGE with peppers and onions - $5. Grilled octopus - $5. Indian food, seafood, soul food, greek food, brazilian food, mexican, carnival food... You name it, it was there.

Towards the end of the day, Blondie and I managed to snag a couple of seats in front of a new bar that we've never tried, and drank cheap ass beers and people watched the afternoon away.

Seriously - it was one of the most awesome days we've had. And it was so unplanned. I think that's what makes it better!

We love you Hells Kitchen and 9th Ave International Food Festival!
